Hello World
Thanks for reading. This blog is written under a pseudonym, as I want to write about folks I meet in this industry from the standpoint of plausible anonymity. I have to admit, however, that I'm unlikely to be able to avoid detection.
I work at a major online company and am in the online advertising space. I have the greatest job in the world except for that I'm underpaid. I am a schlump, but a schlump who gets to go chat with Yahoo! and DoubleClick about online advertising and the exchange.
There are several companies and several prophets out there preaching about this area of the industry and striving to stake a claim. I worry that there's too much smoke in the debate, not too much fire. But I am struck that we're on the verge of something exciting in the exchange side -- something that no one can accurately predict (myself included, of course) but that we all have theories about. Some of the people posting on this topic are indecipherable - potentially crazy. Others are simply confused.
One of the theories of exchanges is that they benefit from the wisdom of the crowd in terms of their ability to price efficiently. That wisdom depends on the multitude of voices that a marketplace aggregates. I guess I'm offering my additional voice to this debate in the hopes that as the market aggregates intelligence on this topic it will benefit, marginally, from the addition of me.
